Longleat International Horse Trials
xposition was approached by the organisers of the Longleat International Horse Trials to develop the administrative side of their website to make their lives easier when it came to maintaining and updating the content.
Before we became involved, any changes to the competitor information or competition results had to be manually extracted from text files and converted into HTML tables. The way the data was presented was not interactive and users of the site had to wade through lots of information to find exactly what they were looking for.
xposition created bespoke upload tools to allow the organisers to take the raw text data and automatically import it into a database. The data was then presented to the competitors in a searchable and fully cross-referenced format including a printable version of the search results.
An administrative back-end was developed to allow the maintenance of the data to take place.
redcog.net
redcog.net is a free directory for Small Businesses, Charities and other not for profit organisations in the UK that actually works! There are no strings and all the benefits cone as standard. You have literally nothing to lose and everything to gain by signing up to this service. It works for people with or without websites.
This is an ongoing project and was initially designed to test out the inner workings of the Google search engine and to find out if there was a legitimate way to speed up the process of getting a website cached. We have now got it down to less than 48 hours for a new listing!
The problem is finding the time to market this fantastic product properly!
However, even with no marketing effort, more than 5,000 people have signed up to the site and we are getting over 1,000 listing views a day. Such is the power of Google!
The Metaphysical Society
The Metaphysical Society for the Expansion of Consciousness (MSEC) has created a training programme that leads to qualifications in Holistic Counselling or can be taken as a programme of personal and spiritual training and development that will guide you towards experiencing more Peace, Joy & Happiness in your life.
The MSEC contacted xposition because they wanted to update their existing website. They felt the site was looking tired and the search engines did not seem to like it. They wanted the new site to better reflect their more contemporary outlook. The site needed to be brighter and sharper and allow more interaction with site visitors, helping their members and training courses gain a better profile.
The website offers a fully searchable database of members, newsletter signup, course and event details and is supported by an administrative back-end to help maintain the site, the MSEC members, and create and send newsletters.
The development of the website and administrative support is an ongoing process.
Environment Agency - Oilbankline
The Oilbankline is part of the Environment Agency's Oil Care campaign, and xposition was asked to revamp their existing website and take on it's long-term support and development. The website allows visitors to search by postcode and town for local facilities that accept used engine oil for recycling.
The final design provides a simple user interface and delivers a set of results including information about the site as well as links to maps and directions.
There is a WAP version of the site for mobile users.
Magic Moments Photography
Magic Moments is a photography company based in Somerset whose services range from black and white portraits to magical sunsets or the special moments on your wedding day.
xposition was asked to develop a website that would showcase their significant range and skills and allow people to add photographs in various formats to a shopping basket. Whilst not a full e-commerce website, the order form is emailed to Magic Moments.
The Mirrored Shower
The Mirrored Shower are a band with a fine pedigree that are definitely going places! Their latest album, Reflections, is passionate and introspective, dealing with the many changes human beings go through in life. Listen to their work and buy their albums!
xposition was asked to design a website around their logo that reflected (no pun!) their ethos. They wanted something a little quirky and that also allows current and potential fans, agents and A&R people to listen to and download their music.
There is also a simple shopping cart that allows you to purchase their albums using PayPal.
Triodos Bank
Triodos Bank is an ethical bank that invests your money to work for positive social, environmental and cultural change. It has been operating in the UK since 1995 and is based in Bristol.
xposition was asked to develop a database system to store and analyse the bank's 2004 private customer survey. This included database design, carrying out the data entry, and statistical and qualitative analysis and reporting.
xposition was also asked to provide a similar service for their 2005 business customer survey. This time they wanted an online version accessible by all their staff. As before, this involved designing the database, carrying out the data entry and producing the analysis and reporting tools.
Minto Consultancy
Minto Consultancy has more than 15 years experience in helping clients in making the best use of Direct Debit and Direct Credit processes and has worked with all sectors of business. Minto had an existing website with a free hosting service, but the proprietary nature of the development software meant it could not be transferred.
xposition was asked to provide a low-cost brochure-style website that was optimised for the search engines and was simple yet effective.
Box Clever Theatre Company
Box Clever is a touring theatre company which performs to over 70,000 young people per year, touring to schools, colleges and theatres across the UK.
xposition was asked to help them recover a failed database system containing their programme bookings and client details. This was successfully carried out and improvements made to their database to prevent a re-occurrence of the problems.
Robert West Consulting
xposition was involved in the development of multiple mini-sites for their intranet and extranet management systems over a two-year period. This included the creation of time recording and contract management utilities.
